MA-KU-DO-NA-RU-DO.

This is Japanese pronunciation of very famous　hamburger shop Mc Ddonald's.

In the east of Japan, it is calld "Ma-kku".

In the west , it is calles "Ma-Ku-Do".

マクドナルドの英語の発音が全然聞き取れなかったのをふと思い出しました。

The Young Plant of Bitter Melom

I got the young plants of bitter melon (GOYA) from　munincipal goverment.

Goya meke "Green carteins".

"Green carteins"shade the walls and windows of buildings and lower room temperatures.

This is a part of munincipal measures for energy saving.

節電対策の一環として、市からゴーヤの苗をもらいました。

緑のカーテンが出来るのが、楽しみです。

We have portable shrine　for each district.

At the Kanda Festival we can see various  portable shries.

What do we wear when we carry the portable shrine?

We wear Happi and  Momohiki and Tabi.
Happi is  a traditional Japanese outfit with the word "Festiva(Kanda Festival)l" written at the back.
Momohiki is the close fitting trousers.
Tabi is the Japanese socks.

お祭りの衣装。　はっぴ・股引・足袋。

Portable Shrine 3 ~Kanda Festival~

Not only men but also women carry the portable shrine.

The portable shrine is palanquin of a god 

and while we're carrying it the spirit of the god is said to come down to it.

お神輿は、神様の駕籠であり、担いでいるうちに神様がお神輿に降りてくるそうです。

It's exquisite workmanship.

It is made by carpenters specializing in temple and shirine.

今はお神輿を作れる職人が少ない、という話を聞きました。

We carried a portable shrine on our shoulders at the Kanda Festival.

It's very heavy.

It's about 1 ton!

So we take turns frequently.

私たちが担いだお神輿は、約1トンもあるそうです。

KANDA Festival

Kanda fesitival - one of Tokyo's three most famous fesitivals take place May 7 to 15.

Carrying  a portable shrine ( Mikoshi Parade) is held today and tomorrow.
It is main event of the festival.

 I'm going to participate in the festival tomorrow.!

Last Day of Golden Week

Today is a national holiday because Constitution Memorial Day falls on Sunday this year.
And today is the last day of Golden week.


Long holiday makes us  happier.

ゴールデンウィークも今日で終わりですね。

Children's Day

Today is Children's Day , a national holiday.

Until after World War Ⅱ,  Children's Day was called  "Tango-no-sekku"(Boy's festival).

We put up carp streamers known as "Koinobori" to pray for the success in life of boys.

こどもの日は、
「こどもの人格を重んじ、子供の幸福をはかるとともに、母に感謝する」日だそうです。
こどもだけでなく、ママのみなさんも素敵な一日にしてくださいね。

Greenery Day

Today is Greenery Day , a national holiday.

This is the day to show appreciation of nature.

Originally Greenery Day is held on April 29 ( Showa day).
Because   Showa Emperor  Hirohito loved nature.
Green day was mooved to May 4 in 2007

今日は、みどりの日です。
その名前にふさわしく、新緑が気持ちいいですね。

Constitution Memorial Day

Constitution Memorial Day is held held every year on 3rd May to commemorate the promulgation
in 1947 of Japanese constitution.

今日は、憲法記念日のほか　ごみの日、リカちゃんの誕生日　です。
